The Design Consultation stage is an information-gathering exercise for both parties.
You also need to get to know us and establish if you would like to work with us based upon our philosophy and what we have to say. We will take you through how we work and show examples of pools using “Biotop” technologies, and we can discuss together what may be suitable for you and your site.
We need to understand what you are looking to do, as well as to gain an appreciation of the nature and needs of the site – local conditions and climate etc.
After the visit or call we will send you a Consultation Report with an outline sketch design and an estimate of the costs and alternatives for your project. This contains sufficient information, including a first cost estimate, to allow both parties to assess and confirm that they can move forward to the specification design stage.
The Technical Specification and Design stage involves the production of a computer aided visual design, full project specifications and confirmation of expected costs, which all form the basis for the Construction stage.
The CAD design will be discussed with you until you confirm you are happy and excited to proceed.
We then produce all the detailed design documentation and specifications which will be used by the construction team in building your Ekopool to its specific requirements.
A standard detailed design package includes the following drawings:
Ekopool uses a comprehensive planting database maintained by Biotop experts in its headquarters in Austria, that matches your specific water conditions (based on a water sample) with a client specific aquatic plant proposition that optimises the time required for clear water and planting success
The Construction stage varies in length of time according to the size and complexity of the project, but on average is between 4 and 8 weeks.
It typically would include the following activities:
All construction is conducted by, or under the close supervision of a Biotop trained individual.
For particularly complex projects or public pool projects we utilise the Biotop partner network to provide additional experience and advice.
On the commissioning of a natural pool we will give you a brush, net and pole, along with a maintenance manual tailor-made to your pond. We will also take you through the basic maintenance tasks which will need to be carried out. Biotop also provide a pass to a maintenance seminar held at their offices close to Vienna should clients want to attend.
The maintenance required for an Ekopool natural pool is much less than for a conventional pool, as nature performs most of the cleaning service. However there are small but regular tasks that need to be performed, such as emptying the animal-friendly skimmer, and ensuring that any leaves which may have blown in do not build up in large quantities.
Some clients draw great enjoyment from taking care of the routine pool maintenance tasks themselves. We do however also offer a maintenance service which can be as often or as infrequent as you need.
We see many of our ponds every month, and generally recommend that our maintenance team visits at least once a year to check on the pond's development and its equipment.
Maintenance for a Living Pool in addition requires the use of a cleaning robot.
We guarantee clear water after a settling period of approximately six weeks.
